Description | Series of 2 stamps, one stamp shows 4 older stamps and the other stamp shows 4 coins. Also available as a sheet containing 5 pair of those stamps. This stamp shows three Vatican stamps with portraits of pope Pius XI, pope John Paul II and pope Benedict XVIII. The stamp, showing the portrait of John Paul II was issued on October 12, 1996. It was dedicated to the 50th anniversery of his priestly ordination. In the background a stamp from 1975 showing a Vatican Courtyard. Notice: The text on the stamps gives the impression that there is a philatelic and numismatic museum in Vatican City. That is not the case. There is, however, a Philatelic and Numismatic Office, where one can buy stamps and coins. |
